Sick time

Paid sick leave is provided to all Adobe employees in alignment with local laws.

During the first four weeks of employment, sick leave is covered by health fund payments (Krankengeld). After four weeks of employment, Adobe provides up to six weeks of paid sick leave.

Sick time pay

In the event that you are able to perform less than 50% of your normal job duties and you are absent from work for more than three continuous months, Adobe offers disability insurance, which pays 40% of your gross monthly salary. View the disability page for more details on disability insurance.

Taking sick time off

To take time off due to an illness, please contact your manager before 9:30 on the day you are ill, to notify them that you are sick and to inform them when you hope to return to work. You must repeat this every morning if your illness continues. If your absence is pre-planned and already approved (e.g., scheduled surgery), you do not need to contact your manager daily.

If your illness lasts longer than two days in a row, you must consult your doctor on the third day of sickness and obtain a medical certificate.

If you require extended time off and obtained an extended medical certificate, please submit a request via the Support Centre and upload a photo of the medical certificate (if provided) with your request.

Sick time is not an accrued benefit and will not be paid out if it’s not used.

What do I need to do if I’m having surgery?

The normal sickness process applies in this situation and will depend on the length of time you will be off work. Please inform your manager of the dates you will be off work and ensure that you keep them up to date with any changes. In Workday, mark the days you will be off. Email a copy of the medical certificate to your manager, and submit a request via the Support Centre

If you feel you need any adjustments (e.g., an ergonomic assessment or phased hours) on your return to work, please submit a request via the Support Centre.

What do I need to do if I’m hospitalised?

If you know in advance of your hospitalisation, please inform your manager of the dates you will be off work, request medical leave in Workday, and ensure that you keep them up to date with any changes. Email a copy of the hospitalisation certificate to your manager, and submit a request via the Support Centre as soon as it is provided to you.

Once you are discharged, email a copy of the hospital discharge confirmation letter to your manager, and submit a request via the Support Centre. If the doctor prescribes additional medical leave for you, before you are able to return to work, please email a copy of the medical certificate from your doctor to your manager, and submit a request via the Support Centre.

If you feel you need any adjustments (e.g., an ergonomic assessment or phased hours) on your return to work, please submit a request via the Support Centre.

How are my commissions calculated, if I am a commissionable employee, during paid sick time off and/or medical leave?

Effective 1 December 2023, in line with the sales compensation programme, commissionable employees taking paid sick time and/or medical leaves will be eligible, under the sick time policy, to 100% of base salary during the leave, and commissions will continue to be paid in accordance with the Sales Compensation Plan.
