Taking a leave of absence
Taking time away from work—whether for business, pleasure, health or family needs, service to our nation or some other occasion—requires careful planning. Just like there are many types of life situations, there are many leave options and policies as well.
Each programme has its own rules for eligibility and use. You can use the links below to select the appropriate leave programme(s) for you, and the actions needed to make your time away (and your transition back to work) go as smoothly as possible.
Medical leave
Request a medical leave for an illness, surgery or other medical event that will keep you away from work for an extended period of time. You can take up to 12 months off. Your manager and Business Partner will need to approve the leave.
You must have a certificate from a registered medical practitioner for this leave to be approved.
When you’re ready to return to work, have your doctor prepare a statement that says you’re healthy enough to come back to work. You will need to give this to your manager.
Maternity leave
Mothers receive 26 weeks of paid time for the birth or adoption of a child.
Paternity leave
Take up to 8 calendar weeks off to bond with your new child. This time is in addition to your casual leave, and needs to be used within 6 months of the child’s birthdate.
Miscarriage leave
Take up to 6 weeks of paid time off immediately following a miscarriage.
Personal leave
Take up to one year off to pursue educational opportunities, enjoy an extended vacation or attend to other personal reasons. However, this time away is unpaid, and Adobe can’t guarantee your job or a similar one will be waiting for you when you’re ready to return. You’re eligible for this leave if you’ve been with Adobe for more than one year.
This time away needs to be discussed with and approved by your manager and the Employee Resource Centre.
Requesting leave of absence
Submit all leave requests through Workday.
Welcome Back programme
The Welcome Back programme offers resources to employees and managers, to facilitate a seamless transition back to work. The programme is available to India-based employees returning from an extended leave of absence of more than three calendar months (90 days). Read the Welcome Back programme guide [PDF] for more information.
Newborn gift programme
Please note: The newborn gift benefit is temporarily retracted until further notice.
Adobe wants to help you welcome your newborn child with a small gift. Adobe India full-time employees are eligible until the newborn reaches one year old. To receive the gift, declare your newborn within 45 days of birth in the MediBuddy portal. A link to request the gift will then be enabled in the portal for one year. For more information, review the FAQs [PDF] or contact the Employee Experience Team at erc@adobe.com.
