Mandatory accident insurance FAQs

Do I get any confirmation of cover?

No, there will be no confirmation of cover sent to employees. All eligible employees will be enrolled automatically from the date of hire.

Am I covered by this insurance while on paid holiday or paid parental leave?

Yes, the policy remains active during paid holiday and paid parental leave.

What happens if I’m off work unpaid for greater than one month?

Coverage for medical costs can be included in the private health insurance for the duration of the unpaid leave. In this case, it is the responsibility of the employee to include the coverage in their individual private health insurance. The cost would be covered by you. (They are included in your regular monthly premium invoices from your medical provider).

If continuation of the benefits according to the mandatory accident insurance is desired, an insurance by convention can be purchased by yourself at a cost of up to CHF 45 per month. The relevant form, including payment slip and further details, is attached.

Sign and return the Notification of Unpaid Leave [PDF] to the ERC.
