Time off and holidays

Adobe provides paid time off (PTO) so you can relax and recharge or attend to personal needs. Please make arrangements with your manager before taking time off. Note that the holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December.

Annual leave

How much you earn

Annual leave accrual begins immediately upon starting work and is accrued by a set amount each month. The annual leave entitlement for full-time employees is 27 days per calendar year.

Annual leave entitlement for part-time employees and working students is based on how many days per week you work compared to a full-time employee. If you are working part-time or on a working student contract, your paid time off is pro rata to the number of days you work per week.

To calculate your annual leave, multiply the number of days you work by 27 (the annual leave entitlement for full-time employees) and divide it by 5 (the number of days in a full-time week).

Example 1: You work three days per week. Calculation: 3 x 27 ÷ 5 = 16.2 days

Example 2: You work four days per week. Calculation: 4 x 27 ÷ 5 = 21.6 days

Taking time off

Adobe encourages you to use your full annual leave each year to rest and rejuvenate. In some circumstances, you may carry over unused PTO days. If you leave Adobe, any PTO you have available, based on your termination date, will be paid to you.

Discuss and agree on your time off with your manager. Once you have manager approval, enter your PTO in Workday by the first day you are absent from work. Follow these step-by-step instructions. (You must be on the network to view this page.)

Note that when entering your PTO in Workday, you will only need to request the days off that you are working as per your contractual agreement.

Your manager will receive a notification when you submit PTO in Workday but will not be requested to approve. Please notify your manager of your PTO prior to submission.

Winter break

Adobe takes one companywide break each winter, between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Adobe reserves the right to request that you take up to three days of your annual leave for the winter break.

Time off FAQs

How do I request half days off?

There is no option to report half days in Workday. Adobe would like to foster an environment of trust and flexibility. If you need to take a few hours off to attend to personal matters, discuss it with your manager, and rearrange your work time accordingly. You do not need to track these hours.

If you want or need to take two half-day holidays, enter one full day in Workday (see instructions). However, discuss this with your manager before taking the time or entering it into Workday.

How do I find my time-off balance for the current year?

You can view your balance for the current year in Workday (see instructions).

How do I read the time-off table in Workday?

In Workday, in the Time Off Balance table, hover over the titles and a brief description will appear. See what each column of the table represents.

How do I view carryover PTO?

To carry over PTO, you must first get approval from your manager. You can carry over unused PTO days from one year to the next. Workday will automatically carry over unused days. These days will be visible in Workday from 1 January. Follow these instructions to view your balance.

Your carryover days will be visible in the Beginning Year Balance column. You can click on the number under the Carryover Balance column to check when the carryover days will expire. Any days you carried over will be used from your balance first. As you enter time off, the value under the Carryover Balance column will decrease accordingly.

As a manager, how do I check my team’s PTO balance in Workday?

Follow these instructions to view the PTO balance for an individual employee.
