The childcare (Kindergarten) reimbursement programme is designed to help employees with costs related to the care of their young children.
What is the benefit?
The reimbursement programme allows eligible employees to receive a tax-free reimbursement of 100% of eligible childcare expenses when the expenses are incurred and submitted for reimbursement within the same calendar year (1 January – 31 December).
Any submissions for childcare reimbursement made outside the calendar year in which the expense is incurred will not be eligible.
The programme reimburses you for the cost of children outside the household, including meals. Other costs associated with education courses or transportation between home and childcare institutions are not eligible under the programme.
Eligibility
All regular employees, Adobe-paid temporary employees and interns are eligible for the benefit.
To be eligible for reimbursement, you must be the parent or legal guardian of the child for whom you request reimbursement of childcare costs, and your child must be:
- Younger than 6 years of age (a child completing the age of 6 before 1 July will be eligible for expenses relating to the period 1 January to 30 June of the same year); and
- Enrolled in an eligible childcare institution or programme.
Eligible childcare institutions:
- Preschool facilities (Kindergarten) / school kindergarten (Schulkindergarten)
- Daycare centers (Kindertagesstätte)
- Nursery schools (Kinderkrippe)
- Childminder (Tagesmutter): only for services outside the home of the child
- Whole-day foster home (Ganztagspflegestelle)
- Boarding schools (Vorschule): for non-school-aged children
How to get reimbursed
Visit My Adobe Benefits (powered by Benify) to apply for childcare reimbursement.
- Select Childcare Reimbursements > Submit a claim.
- Select the name of the dependant for whom you wish to make a claim. Enter the required details, and upload all required supporting documentation.
- Click Next > Finish.
Note: For one-off expenses, you can file claims as they are incurred. The payment will be made in the next available payroll after claim submission and approval.
For recurring fees, once the first payment towards the childcare institution is made, you can submit the receipt and required documentation in one claim covering the entire contracted period. The reimbursement will be paid in monthly instalments based on the number of months you select and the contract. You do not need to submit claims each month.
Required documents
You must provide the certificate of enrolment from the childcare institution that the child is attending and the applicable invoice.
Your documents must contain the following information:
- Full name of the child
- Child’s date of birth
- Proof that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child
- The period for which the payment is made
- Name of the childcare institution
- Amount paid
Reimbursements will be issued through payroll after you submit all receipts and supporting documents and your claim is approved. You will receive your reimbursement depending on your submission date, in accordance with normal pay periods and timelines.
It remains your responsibility to notify Adobe about any changes in the contract with the childcare facility or any cancellations. Adobe reserves the right to conduct additional checks for ongoing claims and to request proofs of payment after the initial approval of the claim. Any failure to communicate contract changes for ongoing claims can result in appropriate actions to be taken.
