Unpaid personal leave

If you wish to take time off for personal reasons, you may request an unpaid personal leave of absence. You’re eligible for this leave if you’ve been with Adobe for more than one year, you’re in good standing with the company, business conditions can accommodate your request, you have exhausted your accrued paid time off balance, and there is no other time off plan you can use.

This time away needs to be discussed with and approved by your manager and the Employee Experience Team. If your request for personal leave is granted, you can take from one to three months of unpaid leave (up to six months with manager approval).

Adobe can’t guarantee your job or a similar one will be waiting for you when you’re ready to return. In addition, Adobe benefits, including AIP bonus targets, may also be affected. See the section below on how rewards are affected by a leave.

For more information, review the policy [PDF] and the FAQs [PDF].

Steps to request unpaid personal leave

  1. Read the policy, FAQs and Rewards Impact during an LOA document above.
  2. Seek approval from both your manager and HR business partner.
  3. Request your leave via Workday.
  4. Attach your email approval from your manager and HR business partner when you submit your leave application.
  5. Your application will be routed to the ERC team for review. If approved by the ERC, review and sign the unpaid personal leave agreement in Workday you will receive.

How rewards are affected during a leave of absence

This benefit is considered a leave of absence. Whilst on a leave of absence, your benefits (including health insurance and retirement payments), time off (including annual leave accruals), and compensation (for example salary, AIP, commission, and equity) may be affected. Please refer to the Rewards impact during a leave of absence document [PDF] for further information.
