How the plan works

The Adobe Spain pension plan consists of the PPSE pension plan (plan de previsión social empresarial) and an excess policy. You can learn more about the difference between these plans in the Adobe PPSE vs. Excess Policy [PDF].

From the time that you join the plan, 100% of the funds deposited in your pension account belong to you to be used in the future at retirement.

The annual maximum contribution limit for your and Adobe’s contributions is €1 500. You can make additional contributions via salary sacrifice, with Adobe matching contributions, up to an annual maximum of €8 500. Amounts contributed above the limits will be paid into an excess policy tax-free. You will need to sign a novation agreement to contribute to the excess policy.

When you are ready to make withdrawals at retirement, your pension benefit has all the contributions that you and Adobe have made to date, plus any investment returns received.

Contributions

Your and Adobe’s contributions to the plan depend on your annual gross base salary and the annual offset amount. In 2024, the annual offset amount is €50 141,89.

Adobe contributes 2% of your salary that is below the offset amount and 9% of your salary that is above the offset to an excess policy.

You contribute 3% of your salary above the offset amount and nothing on the portion of your salary below the offset. Your contributions do not include any bonus or commission payments.

Visit My Adobe Benefits to change your voluntary contribution amount at any time during the year.

Calculating contributions

Your and Adobe’s contributions depend on your salary and the amount of your salary that is above the maximum limit (or “offset”).

  • Adobe contribution: 2% x annual offset amount + 9% x (your salary minus annual offset amount)
  • Your contribution: 3% x (your salary minus annual offset amount)

Pension plan FAQs

When I join Adobe, can I transfer other qualified retirement funds into my Adobe pension plan?

Yes. You can transfer funds from another qualified plan to Adobe’s insured qualified plan as long as the previous employer’s pension plan has similar features as Adobe’s plan.

Can I change where the contributions are invested?

No. The investments and funds are selected by the investment managers at Allianz and applied across the whole pension foundation.

Can I stop participating in the Adobe pension plan?

Yes. Enrolment in the plan is voluntary, and you can always leave the plan at any point. Once you leave the plan, you cannot enrol again until January of the next year.

At what age can I withdraw my pension benefits?

You can withdraw your pension benefits at the retirement age defined by social security, which is from 65 to 67.

If, at the age of 60, you are not working and meet the conditions according to social security, early retirement may be taken. Late retirement is considered after the age of 65 to 67.

What happens when I retire?

Your and Adobe’s contributions will stop. You can elect to receive your benefit as a lump-sum payment, annuity (a regular monthly income), or a combination of both.

What happens if I leave Adobe?

You will be entitled to 100% of your accumulated pension account. You can transfer this pension plan to another plan with the same features. However, it is not possible to transfer funds between countries. Leaving the Company does not automatically mean that benefits can be paid to you, unless contingencies listed in the plan occur. For details, see the Pension Plan Overview [PDF] English | Spanish.

What happens if I die?

If you die before retirement, Allianz will pay the full value of your Adobe pension plan to your chosen beneficiaries. Nominate your beneficiaries when you join the plan, and update them anytime before your retirement. If no beneficiary is nominated, payments will be made in the following order of prevalence:

  1. Spouse/legal partner
  2. Children in equal parts
  3. Parents in equal parts
  4. Legal inheritors

How can I change my beneficiaries?

Visit My Adobe Benefits to review or update your beneficiaries.
