Life insurance provides financial protection for you and your family. It’s available for employees under age 65 and is provided by Adobe at no cost to you.
Enrolment
All employees under age 65 are automatically enrolled in the plan from the date of hire.
Employees need to nominate their beneficiaries to ensure that any payment can be made at the required time.
Cover
If you die in service before your normal pension date, the following benefits will be payable to your beneficiaries:
- A lump-sum benefit* of 4 times annual salary at your date of death;
- The value of your retirement account paid as a lump sum;
- A spouse’s or civil partner’s pension of 20% of your annual salary at the date of your death; and
- A children’s pension of 50% of the amount of the spouse’s pension will be payable to each dependent child (subject to a maximum of two children), if applicable, until they cease to qualify as a dependent child.
* If your lump-sum benefits exceed Revenue limits, the balance may be paid as pension(s) for your dependants.
Life insurance is not classified as a benefit-in-kind, which means that it is not taxable and will not be reflected on your monthly pay cheques or annual P35. However, the tax regulations restrict the amount of benefits payable as a lump sum to 4 times your final remuneration plus the value of your own pension contributions. If you require information on how tax matters may operate in your case, please take independent financial advice.
How to nominate a beneficiary
- Go to My Adobe Benefits and nominate your beneficiary(ies). You can also change them at any time while you are employed by Adobe.
- Select Benefits Selection > Life Insurance > Edit.
- Complete Dependants and Beneficiaries section.
- Select Add to cart > Checkout > Confirm selection.
A congratulatory message will pop up if you’ve successfully submitted your selections.
It is your responsibility to ensure that details of your beneficiaries are kept up to date, as this will ensure that the death benefits payable under the plan are paid in accordance with your wishes. The trustees of the plan are responsible for ensuring that benefits are paid to the appropriate person or persons. The trustees can best exercise this discretion if your wishes are known. Be aware, however, that the ‘expression of wishes’ tool is generally only a guide to the trustees and is not binding on the trustees.
