Maternity leave

Adobe offers up to 26 weeks of maternity leave, which will be paid at 100% of your base salary (or Total Target Compensation for commissioned employees) less any state benefits that you may receive. Any employee who becomes pregnant is entitled to take maternity leave, from day one of employment.

At least two weeks of leave must be taken before the end of the expected week that includes the due date, and at least four weeks leave must be taken after the end of the expected week of confinement.

In addition, employees may take up to 16 weeks of unpaid maternity leave immediately after the end of the ordinary maternity leave.

If your baby is born before the date that you are due to start maternity leave, you can take extra maternity leave. You get 26 weeks leave, starting from the day your baby is born, plus extra leave for the number of weeks between your baby’s actual date of birth and the date you had planned to start your maternity leave. Maternity leave benefits are payable for the whole of this extended maternity leave.

Submit your request for maternity leave (see instructions).

Pregnancy loss

Pregnancy loss can be a devastating experience for you and your partner. This pregnancy loss guide [PDF] outlines what leave you can take and what help is available both inside and outside of Adobe.

Pregnancy loss after 24 weeks: Note that if you suffer a loss after 24 weeks, you are entitled to your full maternity leave benefit, described above. Refer to the Ireland Family Leave policy [PDF] for details.

Adoption leave

Adobe offers up to 26 weeks of adoption leave, paid at 100% of your base salary (or 100% of TTC for commissioned employees) less any state-paid benefits that you may receive. Adoption leave can be followed by 14 weeks of unpaid adoption leave. For more information, please visit the Department of Social Protection.

Submit your request for adoption leave in Workday (see instructions).

Partner leave

Adobe offers up to 16 weeks of partner leave, which will be paid at 100% of your base salary (Total Target Compensation for commissioned employees) less any state-paid benefits that you may receive. Review Partner Leave FAQs [PDF] for more details.

Submit your request for partner leave in Workday (see instructions).

Unpaid parental leave

Take up to 26 weeks of unpaid time to take care of your child(ren) under the age of 12. If you have more than one child, parental leave is limited to 26 weeks in a 12-month period. You must take parental leave in week-long increments (e.g., one week or two weeks), rather than individual days—unless your manager agrees otherwise.

Be sure to get your manager’s approval for unpaid parental leave. Then, submit your request for unpaid parental leave in Workday (see instructions).

NOTE: You will need to request a return from leave of absence in Workday once you are ready to return (see instructions). This action is needed to ensure that you are paid correctly.

Family leave of absence FAQs

I am listed as on leave in Workday. How do I fix this?

To remove your on-leave status, follow these step-by-step instructions.

Where can I get help completing the Employer Certificate for Paternity Benefit form?

Please submit a request via the Support Centre so that they can support you and complete the requested form.

What happens to my benefits during family leave?

While on a paid or unpaid family leave, you will maintain the same insurance benefits coverage that you have as an active employee. These benefits are subject to plan provisions for the full duration of your leave and last up to 52 weeks. Additionally, annual leave continues to accrue during paid leaves, and pension contributions from both Adobe and the employee continue unchanged during the period of full salary.

I have been affected by pregnancy loss. What are my options?

We are sorry for your loss. Please refer to the pregnancy loss guide [PDF] for an overview of what leave you can take and what help is available to you. Note that if you suffer a loss after 24 weeks, you are entitled to your full maternity leave benefit, described above.

Jury service

Adobe will pay your full base salary during jury service leave, provided it doesn’t go on for more than two weeks. If jury service leave extends for more than two weeks, Adobe may need to review the situation and your pay.

  • Ensure that your manager is aware that you have been called for jury service and knows the date your service will start. Keep them updated on your expected return-to-work date.
  • Email a copy of the certificate of attendance to your manager and the Employee Resource Centre. It is your responsibility to enter the dates of jury service into Workday (see instructions).
  • Employees and managers should discuss and agree on any requests for special leave, trying to be as flexible as possible, while continuing to meet business needs.

Unpaid personal leave

If you want to take time away from Adobe for personal reasons, you may request a personal leave. The time away must be discussed with and approved by your manager and Employee Experience.

If your request for personal leave is granted, you can take from one to three months of unpaid leave (up to six months with manager approval).

You’re eligible for this leave if you’ve worked at Adobe for more than 12 months, you’re in good standing with the Company, business conditions can accommodate your request, you have exhausted your accrued paid-time-off balance, and there is no other time-off plan you can use.

Request your leave via Workday. For more information, review the policy [PDF] and FAQ [PDF].
