Expansion of Brazil Maternity and Paternity Leaves
Effective December 1, 2018, the Brazil Maternity and Paternity leaves are being enhanced. All eligible employees in Brazil will be eligible for Maternity leave of up to 26 weeks paid time off for the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child and for Paternity leave, up to 2 weeks paid time off. The enhanced benefit is available for employees whose child is born or placed on or after December 1, 2018.

Maternity leave

Effective through November 30, 2018, take up to 120 calendar days of paid leave for the birth of your child. Your salary is paid by the social security system. The leave is paid at 100% of your salary but limited to the salary ceiling set by the Minister of Supreme Court. You can take your leave as early as 28 days before the birth of the child.

If you adopt or obtain custody of a child, you are eligible to take up to 120 days of leave if the child is a newborn up to age 1; 60 days of leave if the child is ages 1 to 4; and 30 days if the child is ages 4 to 8.

Effective beginning December 1, 2018, take up to 182 calendar days of paid leave for the birth of your child. Adobe will pay 100% of your salary during both the statutory maternity period—up to 120 days—and the remaining days of Adobe’s maternity leave period. You can take your leave as early as 30 days before the birth of the child.

If you adopt or obtain custody of a child, you are also eligible to take up to 182 days of leave if the child is under the age of 6 years old.
