Taking a leave of absence

Taking time away from work—whether for business, pleasure, health or family needs, service to our nation or some other occasion—requires careful planning. Just like there are many types of life situations, there are many leave options and policies as well.

Each programme has its own rules for eligibility and use. You can use the links below to select the appropriate leave programme(s) for you, and the actions needed to make your time away (and your transition back to work) go as smoothly as possible.

Start with Veer

The Veer digital experience is set up to help you plan for your leave or sabbatical time off.

Medical leave

Request a medical leave for an illness, surgery or other medical event that will keep you away from work for an extended period of time. You can take up to 12 months off. Your manager and Business Partner will need to approve the leave.

You must have a certificate from a registered medical practitioner for this leave to be approved.

When you’re ready to return to work, have your doctor prepare a statement that says you’re healthy enough to come back to work. You will need to give this to your manager.

Unpaid personal leave

If you want to take time away from Adobe for personal reasons, you may request a personal leave. This time away needs to be discussed with and approved by your manager and the Employee Resource Centre. Beginning January 10, 2023, you can request from one to three months of unpaid leave (up to 6 months with manager and HRBP approval). You’re eligible if you’ve worked at Adobe for more than 12 months, you’re in good standing with the company, business conditions can accommodate your request, you have exhausted your accrued paid time off balance, and there is no other time off plan you can leverage.

Personal leave is unpaid. Adobe benefits, including AIP bonus targets, will also be impacted.

Request your leave via Workday. For more information visit the Veer digital experience and review the policy [PDF] and FAQ [PDF].
