Disability benefits

If you are ill or injured and unable to work, Adobe has benefits to protect you and minimize your financial worries.

Overview

We provide income replacement for medical disabilities and maternity through short-term and long-term disability insurance, administered by Lincoln Financial Group. If you are an active full- or part-time employee, you are eligible for disability coverage.

Your short-term disability coverage depends on whether you live and work in California. You are automatically enrolled in long-term disability coverage, at no cost to you.

If you need to use your disability benefits, speak with your manager about taking a leave of absence from work, then visit Lincoln Financial Group (Company Code: ADOBELOA) (SSO) or call 800-459-3772 to initiate your leave.

Short-term disability (STD) If you live and work outside of California

If you live and work outside of California, you have two options for short-term disability (STD) coverage through Adobe.

The STD Plus plan pays 100% of your salary for weeks 2–10 of a disability. This is the coverage you currently have. Beginning January 1, 2026, the STD Plus plan will require an employee contribution each pay period.

The cost for the STD Plus plan is 0.15% of your annual base salary (TTC if sales), divided by the number of pay periods in the year.

The STD Basic plan is a new option that pays 80% of your salary for weeks 2 through day 120 of disability. There is no cost to you for this coverage.

Both plans then pay 66.67%, up to a maximum weekly benefit of $3,500, for weeks 11 through day 120.

In addition to Adobe disability coverage, you may be partially covered by an applicable state disability plan. If you are disabled due to a job-related illness or injury, you may be eligible for Workers’ Compensation benefits.

Choose your option during Open Enrollment for 2026

You can enroll in the STD plan you want for coverage that begins  January 1, 2026. If you don’t make an election, you will remain covered in the STD Plus plan for 2026 and will have contributions deducted from your pay. Visit the Adobe benefits enrollment site to enroll.

Long-term disability (LTD)

If you are unable to work for more than 120 days due to a medical disability, long-term disability (LTD) begins to pay benefits on the 121st day, pending approval:

  • 66 ⅔% salary replacement, up to a maximum of $15,000 per month (or $25,000 per month for Section 16b officers).
  • Adobe pays the cost of your LTD insurance, and you pay tax on the value of Adobe’s contributions. On your paycheck, the amount will be added to your earnings and then subtracted as an after-tax deduction.
  • You do not pay tax on these salary replacement payments.
  • Whereas an Adobe medical leave may last for up to 12 months, LTD benefits generally provides income replacement up to age 65, based on medical documentation.
