How Aetna plans work

Adobe’s Aetna plans all provide comprehensive care, including preventive care with no out-of-pocket costs [PDF]. See Prescription Drugs to learn how preventive care medications are covered.

When you use in-network providers, you’ll pay less for care: Your deductible is lower, Aetna pays a larger share (90% or 80% depending on your plan) of the discounted in-network rates, and your out-of-pocket maximum is lower.

You have the freedom to use an out-of-network provider, but you will pay significantly more: Your deductible is higher, Aetna pays a lower share (70% or 60% depending on your plan), and you’re responsible for any charges above the plan’s recognized charges [PDF]. Charges above the recognized charges (balance billing) or charges for health care the plan doesn’t cover do not count toward your deductible or your out-of-pocket maximum.

Comparing Aetna plan features

Aetna HealthSave Basic plan

  • Your per-paycheck contributions are the lowest of the Aetna plans (employee-only coverage is $0), but you’ll pay more out of pocket when you get care.
  • For in-network doctor visits or services, the plan pays 80% after you meet your deductible ($1,800 self only; $3,600 family).
  • For out-of-network services, the plan pays 60% after you meet the out-of-network deductible ($3,600 self only; $7,200 family).
  • With this plan, you can open a Health Savings Account (HSA) with your own payroll contributions. However, Adobe will not contribute to your HSA

Aetna HealthSave plan

  • You’ll pay less out of pocket when you get care, but your per-paycheck contributions are higher than the Aetna HealthSave Basic plan.
  • For in-network doctor visits or services, the plan pays 90% after you meet your deductible ($1,500 self only; $3,000 family).
  • For out-of-network services, the plan pays 70% after you meet your out-of-network deductible ($3,000 self only; $6,000 family).
  • With this plan, you can open a Health Savings Account (HSA) with HealthEquity and make your own payroll contributions. Adobe will also contribute to your HSA: up to $850 for self-only coverage or up to $1,700 for family coverage.
  • Be sure you’re eligible for an HSA before enrolling in this plan. If you’re enrolled in Medicare or TRICARE, you can enroll in this plan only without an HSA.

Aetna Out of Area HealthSave plan

  • This plan is available to employees who do not live within the Aetna Choice POS II or Utah Connected network.
  • Your per-paycheck contributions are the same as the HealthSave plan.
  • There is no provider network. The plan pays 80% for covered services after you meet your deductible ($1,500 self only; $3,000 family).
  • With this plan, you can open a Health Savings Account (HSA) with HealthEquity and make your own payroll contributions. Adobe will also contribute to your HSA: up to $850 for self-only coverage or up to $1,700 for family coverage.
  • Be sure you’re eligible for an HSA before enrolling in this plan. If you’re enrolled in Medicare or TRICARE, you can enroll in this plan only without an HSA.

Medicare and your HSA

If you become enrolled in Medicare, you can no longer contribute to an HSA nor receive an Adobe HSA contribution.
