Disability benefits

If you are ill or injured and unable to work, Adobe has benefits to protect you and minimize your financial worries. We provide income replacement for medical disabilities and maternity through short-term disability and long-term disability, administered by Lincoln Financial Group.

You’re eligible to participate and are automatically enrolled if you are an active full- or part-time employee. You do not need to take any action to participate in these benefits. If the time comes that you need to use them, review the information on Leaves of Absence.

Short-term disability (STD)

Short-term disability (STD) provides income replacement if you become unable to work due to medical disability. If you work in California, your benefits are provided through the voluntary disability insurance (VDI) program, and many other states have their own disability programs that operate in conjunction with the Adobe STD plan. The following tables outline how benefits are paid.

California employees are automatically enrolled in VDI on their date of hire. You may opt out [PDF] by enrolling in California State Disability Insurance (SDI) through the Adobe benefits enrollment site.

Long-term disability (LTD)

If you are unable to work for more than 120 days due to a medical disability, long-term disability (LTD) begins to pay benefits on the 121st day, pending approval:

  • 66 ⅔% salary replacement, up to a maximum of $15,000 per month (or $25,000 per month for Section 16b officers).
  • Adobe pays the cost of your LTD insurance, and you pay tax on the value of Adobe’s contributions. On your paycheck, the amount will be added to your earnings and then subtracted as an after-tax deduction.
  • You do not pay tax on these salary replacement payments.
  • Whereas an Adobe medical leave may last for up to 12 months, LTD benefits generally provides income replacement up to age 65, based on medical documentation.

Workers’ compensation

Under Adobe’s workers’ compensation program, medical treatment is covered at 100% for an injury or illness that is work-related when you seek medical care at one of the designated locations, as required. Read Adobe’s workers’ compensation FAQs [PDF] for more details.

How the plan works

You’re automatically enrolled and eligible for workers’ compensation benefits on your first day of employment.

In the event of an emergency, get medical attention first. Call Adobe Security at 64444, or dial 9-911.

How to claim your benefits

If you have a nonemergency work-related injury or illness, follow these steps to access your workers’ compensation benefits:

  1. Inform your manager and the Employee Resource Center (ERC) immediately. Contact the ERC at 408-536-4357, or submit a request via the Support Center. The ERC will tell you how to file a claim with TRISTAR, Adobe’s workers’ comp administrator, and how to obtain care. You will also receive a claim form that must be completed, signed, and returned to the ERC within 24 hours.

    If you work in Ohio, Wyoming, Washington, or North Dakota, you will need to file an intake form with the ERC, and you will also need to file a workers’ comp claim directly with your state.
  2. Visit a designated provider. Adobe has a network of providers through TRISTAR Managed Care that specialize in treating workers’ compensation injuries and illnesses. You are required to seek treatment within the TRISTAR network for your initial care. For a list of providers near you, follow the path for your state:
  3. Keep your manager informed. You will be responsible for keeping your manager informed by providing a copy of your Work Status Report following each provider appointment and forwarding a copy to your TRISTAR case manager and to the ERC.
  4. Contact Lincoln Financial Group if your injury or illness results in time away from work. If you must stop working due to a work-related injury or illness, you will need to submit a disability leave of absence claim. Adobe’s workers’ compensation policy provides income replacement in accordance with Adobe’s short-term disability plan, combined with any workers’ compensation benefits you are eligible to receive.
